In addition to the wealth of conventional organized excursions to historical sites or natural parks, you can add a twist to your holiday by spending some hours in or around your resort in fun-filled activities on land. Practically everywhere in the Red Sea Riviera you will have the chance of going horse or camel riding, whether for half an hour along your hotel beach, or on a longer trip in the desert. Beach horse and camel riding is pretty easy and suitable for everybody. Rides in the desert need a little preparation and good guides. Most of the desert safari trips sold as a half day excursion also include a camel ride. Some destinations such as El Gouna and Sharm el Sheikh have well maintained horse stables where you can take proper riding courses with professional trainers and embark on exploration rides of some length. In places such as Dahab, one particular diving excursion includes going to the diving spot on the coast by camels, as it is the only way to reach it. For the adrenaline seekers there are many go-cart rings, motorbike and motocross centres and quadrunner (4 wheels motorbike) tracks. A typical excursion is the sunset quad trip to the desert, when a caravan of dozens of quads make it to some desert oasis or Bedouin camp while bumping and jumping off road with experienced guides.
