 | South of Marsa Alam: Tribal Festival |  | | | | On the 29th, 30th and 31st of October in Fustat Wadi El Gemal National Park, 45 km south of Marsa Alam, will take place a first-of-its kind event: Characters of Egypt.
A three-day cultural extravaganza that will bring together Bedouin tribes from all over Egypt. During the event the lucky participants will have the chance to interact with the tribes in a variety of activities covering music, dance, poetry, sports, games, food tasting, a camel race, educational lectures on the tribes and environment and much, much more.
Characters of Egypt is a festival celebrating tribal heritage, nature and cultural diversity. But it is also an opportunity to benefit the tribes long-term, by creating previously nonexistent channels of communication among them and between them and the wider community.
Characters of Egypt is organised by Wadi Environmental Science Centre (WESC) and the Egyptian Desert Pioneer Society (EDPS), with the support of the Ministries of Tourism and the Environment and with the expert help of many Egyptian luminaries. You can camp on-site by bringing your own tent.

| El Gouna Marathon | | | | | On the 1st and 2nd of December El Gouna will host its first ever marathon. 10,000 residents live in El Gouna and 10,000 tourists spend their holidays there. Therefore participants can expect a lot of cheering locals and tourist along the way, contributing to the unique atmosphere.
The moderate temperature of around 20 degrees centigrade, along with sunshine, crystal-clear waters, sandy beaches, fascinating desert and mountain landscape and the colourful underwater world will ensure that the runners will have a wonderful time during the marathon in El Gouna.
The starting line and finishing point are located within the marina of El Gouna, offering a spectacular background when crossing the finish line.
All transfers to the course before and after the race, as well as within El Gouna, are included in the entry fee. Each participant will receive a certificate, a ranking, as well as an El Gouna marathon medal.
