Shams Village opened in 1991 and has been recently renovated. It is a spacious hotel with a very nice garden surrounding the bungalows and bordering the nice beach; it is the ideal solution for a relaxing holiday, as well for windsurfers, kiters and scuba divers. This large property is positioned on the tip of the northern Bay of Safaga, roughly 8 km from the city centre and about 60 km south of Hurghada.

Shams Village is the only hotel in Safaga offering both direct access to the sea and snorkelling from the shore. The hotel has one of the nicest natural sandy beaches in the Safaga bay and its house reef, about 20m away from the coast, is divided into different parts and levels.

The resort consists of 204 rooms in the main building with balcony or panoramic view, and 136 more spacious bungalows with a patio, set within a wonderful garden. All are equipped with individual air conditioning, international telephone, satellite TV, mini fridge, and shower; maximum capacity 3 adults. Available family and connecting rooms/bungalows (up to 4 adults); for handicapped guests specially equipped rooms.

A main restaurant, a lobby bar, grill terrace with open air bar, cafeteria and oriental café; there is also a snack bar on the beach.

1 freshwater outdoor swimming pool with sunbathing terrace. The hotel has a spacious lobby with reception (free safes) and some shops just outside; 2 children’s playgrounds and 1 playroom without supervision; laundry service, internet café, computer game corner; with charge massage and sauna. Sun beds, sun shades and towels are free of charge on the beach and by the pool.

A great number of leisure and sports facilities for everyone and night entertainment assured by a discotheque and live shows. Activities free of charge: 2 tennis courts (floodlight with charge), mini golf, 2 covered squash courts, table tennis, beach volleyball, billiard hall with 5 tables and fitness room. With charge: horse riding, multipurpose court for handball, basket ball and mini football, and dive centre.

The well equipped windsurf centre with multilingual staff offers by far the best windsurfing spot in Safaga, on the wide and beautiful beach of the hotel. In the morning, the wind blows cross-offshore from the left, facilitating trips to Tobia Island, and changes to side shore towards the afternoon. Directly in front of the centre, you can touch bottom and the water is perfectly flat; further out, you will find chop-hop conditions. An "Unlimited Instruction" programme is offered in a shallow-water training area; approx. 120 boards and 170 rigs.

The turquoise waters of Kite Bay commence upwind of the bathing zone; here kiters will find a 350m x 150m waist-deep area, the first part of which is protected by a spit. At high tide, Kite Bay is ideally suited to body-drag and water-start instruction and of course for one's first few metres on the kite surf board. Experienced kiters can head for the stretch of beach upwind of Kite Bay; here they will find another kilometre-long kitesurf beach, perfectly suited for upwind sailing. The spot is excellently suited to all kiters, due to its outstanding wind potential. As an additional activity the centre offers upon request (min. 10 people) a kite-boat-trip to Kiriazi Bay (Soma Bay). Kitesurfing instruction year round.
