Hamata/Berenice is the latest addition to the varied number of holiday destinations of the Red Sea. Remote and isolated, the area is a mixture of a few mid to high category hotels and an ecotourism area in the Wadi el Gemal National Park, where only eco-lodges can be built. Dining in the area of Hamata and Berenice is limited to what hotels and eco-lodges have to offer. The hotels offer a fair variety of meals either at their buffet settings or at their a-la-carte restaurants. Meals at the eco-lodges can be surprisingly good, given the remoteness and lack of regular supplies of the area. Fresh catches from local fishermen are available often both at hotels and eco-lodges. What the area lacks in variety of dining options, it more than makes up with its virgin and wild environment! |
