The town of Dahab, and in particular the tourist district of Assalah, offers a big number of dining options, with the long row of bars and restaurants along the pretty and busy sea promenade. Going out after sunset in Assalah is a nice experience. The promenade, adorned with palm trees, offers great shopping at the million outlets selling traditional original Bedouin handicrafts, and great value for money. A row of bars of restaurants sitting straight on the beach offer a big variety of food, ranging from authentic local recipes to eclectic international menus at very convenient prices. Some restaurants offer the catch of the day, fresh fish deliciously cooked in your preferred way. Others cater to the big number of backpackers staying at the camps, and offer varied menus for breakfast and lunch too. In Dahab, the hotels’ cuisine is in general quite good. Hotels normally have a main restaurant serving the boarding meals (breakfast and dinner, sometimes also lunch), and one or two a-la-carte restaurants to sample specialties or to celebrate that special occasion in an intimate atmosphere. Camps serve simple but tasty local food at very convenient prices. |
