Barakuda Lahami Bay – Berenice

Location

Medium-sized international dive centre situated on the premises of Lahami Bay Beach Resort, at the 8 km long Lahami Bay, with superb house reef. Approx. 190 km south of Marsa Alam airport.

The Dive Centre

Directly in front of an impressive mountain backdrop and situated on a long sandy beach that stretches over 8 km, Berenice is a newly developed area for tourism and represents a true paradise in the Red Sea Riviera for both active divers and lazy holiday makers who wish to spend a wonderful time in a natural and unique environment in a remote and tranquil setting. In fact, there are no further dive centres in Egypt towards the south to the Sudan border and the professional Barakuda Lahami Bay Dive Centre has a well-looked after dive school with experienced and multilingual staff. This is the place where to go if you are looking for an unforgettable scuba diving holiday.

A highlight is the 5 km long house reef, easily accessible from the beach that makes every diver’s heart beat faster with joy. The extensive house reef is open 24h/7 days and accessible by foot; also “felukas” – traditional little boats serving as zodiacs - are available twice a day: they accompany the divers a bit further out the house reef so they can fully explore its vastness. Night dives by “feluka” and early morning dives (by boat) possible.

The private boat jetty within the bay to the south completes the picture of this new dream destination at the Southern Red Sea and enables the exploration of over 30 dive sites in the immediate vicinity: sites such as Coral Garden, Fury Shoal, Shab Wadi Lahami, Shab Mahsur and Shab Sataia have already gained a high popularity among divers. Divers have to register until 5 pm for next day’s boat diving programme, full day boat trips leave between 8 and 9 am for usually two tank dives. Lunch and drinks are available on boat excursions.

Each diver receives an individual box and the diver’s name and room number is filled in a board in front of the individual wet rooms. Divers just fill in their names in the diving lists for house reef diving and put out their boxes, which then will be transported by Barakuda’s staff to the house reef – or they will be transferred to the boat in case of boat trips. 2 fresh water rinsing pools are available.
