The unique town of Dahab has been has been getting a face-lift in the past few years; once faced with an unkempt shoreline, Dahab hotels and resorts now have an attractive sea promenade to offer their visitors - ideal for shopping and walking around. Dahab hotels and camps still operate many restaurants right on the beach overlooking the magnificent coastline of the Red Sea.

Although Dahab is home to some famous international hotel and resort chains, the town is arguably the most popular spot for budget travellers in Egypt. Hotels and Bedouin camps offer all types of accommodations.

Some camps in Dahab offer very basic rooms where you need to bring your own linen, while others offer simple but complete rooms with great views of the beach. Either way they are the cheapest accommodation in the Red Sea. These budget camps and hotels are mostly located in the central area of Assalah.

The best hotels are located on the lagoon south of town, not far from Assalah, and directly on Dahab's best beach, a golden sandy shore enclosing a turquoise lagoon popular among kite and windsurfers. Lovers of board sports are best lodged in one of these hotels, as they have direct access to the beach.
